I'VE EARNED THE RIGHT TO WALK OUT ON WOOLWICH'S DOG & PONY SHOWS

Now a nitpicker and there are lots of them could criticize and say that it was a Regional Dog & Pony Show. Big deal. It was a Woolwich issue, held in Woolwich at a Woolwich venue (arena) and our Woolwich mayor was at the front of the room making introductions.  I repeat that I've earned the right from 35 years of activism, volunteerism and living here for over 30 years to walk out of crap meetings when I see and smell them. In fact my specific volunteerism and activism are directly related to the alleged issues being discussed which included an Elmira By-Pass going up the east side of Elmira through Uniroyal Chemical contaminated properties such as the Stroh and Martin farms.

I mentioned here yesterday that one regional presenter advised that soil and groundwater contamination in the vicinity of the Canagagigue Creek could impact the construction of a new bridge over the Creek to permit passage of cars and trucks away from Elmira's downtown area. Having both heard her remarks and eventually having also read them it could be construed that she was only talking about the DDT, dioxins, agent orange components etc. above health criteria in the creekbank soils, creek sediments and floodplain soils.

There is much more despite our municipal, regional and provincial authorities best attempts to deceive and cover them up. NDMA was found in a deep aquifer approximately 150 metres upgradient (i.e. groundwater flow)  on the Stroh farm. DDT and dioxins have been found above health criteria wherever their extremely limited sampling has taken place whether only 15 cm. (5.9 inches) below ground surface the length of the property line between Uniroyal and the Stroh farm or even in the sediments of the Stroh Drain, Ditch & Berm (SDDB). The sediment reading for 2,3,7,8 TCDD (dioxin) in the SDDB was 24.2 parts per trillion (ppt) whereas the health criteria is .7 ppt.  Yes that criteria is decimal 7  not 7.0 ppt.

We were advised that there were no microphones and that questions could only be asked privately to selected regional and municipal officials present at the end of the meeting.  Mayor Shantz please read my lips :  "That is not a public meeting or even close!"
