It was not a Public Meeting. The yahoos didn't even have a single microphone available at the start of the meeting which was attended by my guess maybe 80 to 90 people . Maybe more, hard to say as most were sitting but many stranding. We were advised that at the end of the presentation they would like questions to be directed privately to individual staff (Region & Township) present. Again a true public meeting has microphones in the gallery to allow questions to and answers from the presenters to be heard by all present.
One huge item was told to me afterwards and that was the lady from the Region while discussing Slide 26 in the presentation stated that there was known soil and groundwater industrial contamination in the vicinity of the creek which could impact construction of a new bridge crossing the creek to enable the proposed by-pass on the east side. Now at first I thought that she was discussing the known soil and sediment contamination on the Stroh farm as well as in the Stroh Drain, Ditch & Berm which discharges into the creek. Perhaps she was or she was simply advising what the decades of sediment and creekbank soil sampling have constantly shown which is toxic contamination well above any health criteria whether provincial or federal. Either way it is a major concern that needs to be recognized and dealt with. To date not so much as a single downstream shovel of toxic contamination has been removed other than for sampling purposes.
Luminaries present included the mayor, a couple of councillors, Mark Bauman (past councillor), Art Woods and Ken Seiling. I didn't see Chuck Martin or the Elmira Land Development Co. but they might have been there. Sebastian was there as well as three former CPAC members including myself. Also present were a couple of past APT members. Plus lots of concerned citizens.
