THOSE WHO IGNORE HISTORY ARE CONDEMNED TO REPEAT IT: TAG & RAC AS CONSTITUTED ARE "CRINGEWORTHY"

Bless the Woolwich Observer for correctly understanding the purpose behind mayor Sandy Shantz's lies and deceptions regarding public consultation and the cleanup of the Elmira Aquifers and creek. The Observer published a story on August 9, 2015 titled "Woolwich scraps CPAC, approves new format with less public involvement". While the Observer have unfortunately gotten things muddled from time to time they were right on the mark with their understanding of the intentional nuetering of the watchdog group known as CPAC (Chemtura Public Advisory Committee). CPAC members spoke to Council including Dr. Dan Holt, CPAC Chair, who stated that the new protocols will put CPAC "...under the control of the company it is supposed to oversee.". Vivienne Delaney also criticized Council's moves stating that they will do nothing to clean the local drinking water. Graham Chevreau also spoke and stated that the April 9, 2015 alleged "stakeholders' meeting" was a setup and a sham. That meeting which refused significant CPAC attendance then had a pack of people who had not attended public CPAC meetings in years oor even decades criticizing CPAC for alleged behaviours that did not occur. Sebastian Seibel-Achenbach claimed that the negative focus on myself (Alan Marshall) at the April 9/15 meeting was "...a red herring which allows the real culprits to escape closer scrutiny.". Further he stated that much of the coming change appears to us (CPAC) to be about personalities. Specifically, CPAC's association with Mr. Alan Marshall has raised hackles.". Sebastian was partially right in that my knowledge and experience had given CPAC much ammunition with which to demand improvements from Chemtura and the Ontario Ministry of Environment, both of whom talk public consultation while actually finding it reprehensible especially when coming from kniowledgeable and informed local citizens. .......................................................................................................................... Perhaps Cpuncillor Patrick Merlihan summed it up best when he stated "I would still like the feel of this being a citizens' committee," said Merlihan, calling the lack of citizen representation "cringeworthy". ....................................................................................................... All in all this was one of Woolwich Township's finest immoral achievements in a long history "...of corruption, deceit and citizen betrayal".
