It took me a long time to understand that for most politicians it's all about jockeying for position and authority within whatever party or organization they join. At first I thought that Chrystia Freeland simply in the heat of the moment responded harshly to the Prime Minister of Canada and her boss in the Liberal Cabinet. More politicized colleagues have since pointed out the timing and the distribution of Ms. Freeland's letter as well as the recent infighting going on within the Liberals.
Then of course there is outside anger and disappointment with politicians. Apparently our Regional Chair, Karen Redman, has been the recipient of some harsh criticism and allegedly worse from a non-admirer. Fourteen e-mails all within the time of a church service does seem a tad excessive especially if they were personally nasty. A word to the wise: you can criticize politicians in particular for their words, their decisions, dishonesty etc. but simple personal attacks that also contain alleged threats are a serious no-no. It is not illegal for either police or politicians to lie like dogs but it is illegal for voters to make physical threats in response. Perhaps a simple "I"ll never vote for an a***ole like you again." would suffice.
Woolwich Township have had a couple of Delegations asking for relief from business taxes and penalties regarding serious financial damages incurred by local businesses near Church and Arthur St. in Elmira from lengthy, often delayed, and often slow construction work . This work involved Church St. , the bridge over the Canagagigue Creek (by Bolender Park) plus a little further east along Hwy #86 (i.e. Church St.). I personally was appalled by several things I saw going on during that lengthy construction as well as how pathetic the detour signs were and the moving targets of constantly changing detour routes. Really Woolwich you wouldn't even consider a break on your financial penalties for a local business that was badly impacted by inaccurate time estimates as well as delays?
