PUBLIC EDUCATION WAS & IS PART OF CPAC'S MANDATE
As previously mentioned the intentional and malicious destruction of CPAC by Councillor Mark Bauman and mayor Sandy Shantz was not completely sucessful. CPAC lives despite that pair's perverted behaviour.
This morning Dr. Dan Holt and I will be engaging twenty enrichment kids in an exercise to broaden their horizons. Normally environmental education might encompass air pollution, ozone layers, carbon footprints, global warming etc.. This morning we will be teaching about aquifers, how they work and how they become contaminated. Of course with the example of horrendous ground and surface water contamination provided by Uniroyal Chemical/Chemtura Canada being so close to home; they are the obvious example.
Dr. Dan and I have discussed sticking to the provable technical facts (tons of them) and going easy on the politics involved. When these kids are older they are going to want to know why and how our local politicians were able to ignore the obvious for so very long. I don't think Sandy and Mark that the next generation are going to accept your excuses that you were just following orders. Whether Regional orders or Provincial orders via the Ministry of Environment or even directly from the Premier's office; none of it will wash. We here in Woolwich Township live and die here. We have a duty to those downstream residents as well as to our own children and grandchildren.
When my time comes I will die happy knowing I tried my hardest to improve our environment.

ReplyDeleteHere is what I can certainly add about truth! Our Township defies the Privacy act daily:
ReplyDelete1. a blast email was sent out last week to all of breslau a private conversation between staff at the Township.it had all emails exposed and created very upset people. This was the second time. Valerie Hummel sent a email to all stating for the second time this will never happen again. She goes on to state the staff will be educated "again" in privacy act training.
2. Rae Ann Bauman ( secretary building department) talks outside the Township walls stating: staff are pointing the finger at each other as to who is taking the blame. the privacy act is just that Rae ann and means do not tell people the information that comes across your desk.
3. In Alan's defence, how many times has the information he gave to Township staff snickered about in the staff room. There is a privacy commissioner and now a municipal ombusdsman and for starters, why do some councillors feel they have the right to walk into all the offices where private information is on desks. There would be a good starting point.
For good measure , if there is another mecac meeting,a suggestion would be: have the police present so Mayor Shantz's husband does not try to intimidate the proceeding by hovering over the complainer. Why does Mr. Shantz sit behind Mr. Marshall instead of supporting his wife! Privacy is a very big problem right now and when is our Township going to follow it.
I received one of the mishap emails this week. I will report it to the privacy commissioner. This is the second time. Blogger of 8:50, really! go to church pal as instilling fear during a meeting is just plain wrong, but hey Mayor Shantz's speech at mecac with vexacious and we will let her own morals handle that one. Blogger of 8:24 saying" your time can't come soon enough" shame on you as what would you do with your time if you didn't open your computer to read a blog. As for Public information, if our information given is violated by Township staff then that is a problem and not the first to be made aware. Did you know, staff were not given direction by council to pursue the selling of Breslau land, so how did staff get all that work done and ready to go for the new council. Buzinga! I dare mayor shantz to stamp her name on as many wonder projects and Todd Cowan.....he did alot of wonderful things including allowing cpac to bring to light the damage in our water and I believe people are seeing that now especially the volunteers in our communities. Thanks Alan for making my day with your information and holding the very people accountable that take our tax money.
ReplyDeleteWhat you (8:50am) do NOT understand is that NOTHING that someone like you states or feels changes the truth...that we the people are starting to wake up and watch everything and especially people like you that for WHATEVER reason do not like truth! The truth is going to survive beyond any and all arguments and even confrontations that occur. Your attempt to marginalize truthseeker(s) only serves to empower them while exposing your weakness. Oh I know you want Mr. Marshall to shut-up, so what if I actually wanted you to do the same? where would that take us? THE TRUTH WILL PERSEVERE! Speak the truth and you may get some respect at least. On a side-note what do gun-toting vindictive angry nutjobs have to do with our local community or Mr. Marshall or ?
ReplyDeleteLabelling someone is just a theory and it DOES NOT make anything true! It does not matter who is armed or ready...truth lives on and we must all individually find it to be sucessful.
DeleteWhat I love about Mr. Marshall is that he speaks truth to power AND NOBODY has ever been able to impeach him. And what I love even more is the fact that Mr. Marshall has become fully aware that all of them are corrupt AND how AND why!

ReplyDeleteThank You for your concern, I personally would much rather deal with truth than simply someone's knowledge. I bet that "this bunch" or "that bunch" are all human beings (like I am, and my children and my grandchildren) Human beings do not rule themselves well, so it is impossible for any system of this world to fix our problems. We the people should fix our problems (and the systemic problems).

ReplyDeleteMr. Marshall; I find it very interesting that the potential of you speaking to children about our water/soil problems and dying happy having done your best to improve our environment, really brought out the haters in droves...so your blog has proved the point that our society/system is very sick just like parts of our water and soil.

Do their families drink the water in your community? It's amazing what some will for money and power.. ( sad really) when you consider, you're fighting for clean water
