TWO SEPARATE BUT SOMEWHAT ENTERTWINED WOOLWICH ISSUES

First of course is the Risk Assessment for the Canagagigue Creek being done by Stantec. It's intention by Lanxess was self-serving and dispicable. Back in 2012 George Karlos of the MOE/MECP messed up big time when he advised CPAC that the Ministry of Environment would sample the creek again for dioxins and DDT just to reassure the citizens that things had improved so wonderfully. Ha! That backfired and continued to backfire through 2014 and 2014 sampling. The creek soils, floddplain soils and sediments in the bottom of the creek were a mess far in excess of all health criteria. Heaven forbid any new actual remediation would be get done. Noooo instead Chemtura/Lanxess came up with yet another in a long list of environmentally unsound and unhealthy ideas. Let's do a Risk Assessment was the cry! ................................................................................................................... The always embarassing Bolender Landfill was next. Frank Rattasid of 86 Auto Recyclers wouldn't play ball with Woolwich. Woolwich wanted , wanted and wanted but would give nothing in exchange. It turned out that among other bone headed actions was the construction of a municipal waterline to service Martin Feed Mills was on private property (Frank's) and the Township had restrictions and conditions on what Mr. Rattasid could do on his own property despite nio paperwork, no easement, nothing about a waterline on the deed etc. At the same time Woolwich were talking out of both sides of their mouths regarding the threat of methane. Oh we need to warn you. Oh you need new methane warning devices. Oh thank you for allowing us to remove the old, no longer necessary Gas Collection System. Oops we were wrong can we access your land again to put in a new needed "passive" methane collection system. To this day Woolwich appear confused as to the extent of the risk and whether or not action needs to be taken. Their consultants say action is necessary including a Remedial Action Plan. Woolwich's response: Oh lets build a gravel parking lot on top of the former landfill. Geez it's like dealing with children. Readers: Day trips are planned over the next few days so posts may be late or off schedule.
