"DON"T FEED THE LANDFILL"

These above titled advertisements have been repeatedly in our local newspapers over the last several weeks. I would agree that they serve some good purposes in that hopefully the public can decrease the amount of garbage they send to the dump. Secondly this can partly be achieved by a greater use of the green bins provided by the Region of Waterloo. My wife and I have just started back using our green bin over the last three weeks as it's getting too cold outside for our outdoor composter to do it's work. All this being said one can be excused for perhaps seeing some hypocrisy in the situation when one reads the following posting dealing with adding 60,000 tonnes of contaminated sediments to this very same landfill. Food is bad but heavy metals, petroleum hydrocarbons etc. are O.K. ??? Here's a thought City of Kitchener. Bill the offending upstream industrial/commercial users for more than $30 per tonne with the excess being used to treat and hence lessen the levels of contamination BEFORE putting it in our landfill. This principle is called POLLUTER PAYS.

  1. Back in my pops day (he was born in the depression) everything was used to the fullest. Now we buy the cheap low life span junk from China and it ends up in the landfill often in less than a year of use. There was not electic this or that, grass was cut via push mower and A/C wasn't in every damn room of government offices. You get these fat cat politicians along with the court house blimps that have the heat turned up to 24-25% and in the winter and the A/C is cold enough to keep your lunch on your desk without going bad. Waste everywhere in our government causes much of the landfill issues along with idea by the public that l'll just get another one. Where the hell is my visa card? Brantford had huge levels of cancer, blindness and tumors for years from all the pollution coming from Cambridge and beyond. The not in my backyard thinking must change. Our fearless leaders that have the best filter water systems and live far away from these issues have it on their list of to do. Someday. The Catholic Church that controls the world behind the "Black Pope" (google it people)will soon have a Sunday law put in around the free world so that working on Sunday will be forbidden for the most part so less pollution will occur? Maybe we can put a dump near some of the councillors or Mayors houses. Problem solved. There are some cheap Christmas tree bulbs on sale from China that creat shorts and possible fires for those that wish to send the mother-in-law a present. Have a nice weekend.
