It was a stinker as usual without any socially redeeming value. It was an hour and a quarter of my life that I will never get back. There was a long presentation from Jen Lindall (?) of Integral Inc. advising how they were going to be peer reviewing the HHERA otherwise known as both the Human Health & Ecological Risk Assessment but known by myself and more informed citizens as acute green washing. You simply hire a company, tell them in advance that you have no intentions of spending money on a cleanup but need some paperwork backup to support that decision.
Apparently this process will add about eighteen months to the whole do nothing process which is money well spent versus dozens of millions of dollars removing DDT and Dioxins from the Creek sediments, soils and floodplain soils. We were advised that if warranted there could be some soil or sediment removal. YES! Wait a minute...warranted by whom? Sure as hell nobody currently involved has any interest in much more than talking, delaying and for variety stalling.
Brian Broomfield did sort of try to suggest that there had been loads of studies and he is correct. That went nowhere however. Long time member (TAG & TRAC) Dave Hofbauer has resigned due to family commitments. His presence unfortunately had been very sporadic the last couple of years as he is a smart cookie. Maybe why he's hitting the road as many before him have.
The dumbest statement of the evening was that of Lou Almeida (GHD) who suggested that they had been pumping their wells "too aggressively" in the past. He wants to see less pumping going on as he claims it could be beneficial to do so. After decades of constant failing to pump to their own recommended rates and admittedly of not going to achieve drinking water standards by 2028 as mandated, his position is completely the opposite of what we the citizens were told for decades. Sebastian has suggested that he would like to see some evidence of this bizarre claim by Lou.
