WOOLWICH COUNCIL SPIRALING OUT OF CONTROL

It's a crisis at Council. After Mark & Sandy manufactured a crisis at CPAC through private discussions/negotiations with Chemtura and the M.O.E.; now we have the real thing occurring with themselves. It really is disheartening and yet I wonder if they've learned anything.

Yesterday the Waterloo Region Record carried two stories devastating to the credibility of Woolwich Council. The first was the front page, lead story in the Record titled "Banned pesticide found in creek". The second was on the front page of the Local section and was titled "Woolwich broke meeting rules, report says". You know I'm wondering at what point Chemtura are going to throw in the towel and wash their hands of this Council. Afterall what good is the support of local politicians whose credibility and confidence with the citizens is in the crapper?

The front page DDT story exposes the danger to both the public and the environment. Mayor Shantz's simplistic and patronizing comments are indicative of both her Council's and Chemtura's attitude regarding ongoing poisoning of our environment. She states "There's no need for people to panic about the creek". Well in fact a little bit of panic is long overdue. DDT at 2,900 times the Ministry of Environment standards is but one of the multitude of chemicals found in the creek. No one knows how toxic and damaging the interaction between DDT, Dioxins, endosulfan, PAHs, NDMA and so much more really is. Each one of those alone are grotesquely toxic yet our Mayor says there is no need to panic.

Then of course we have this same idiot and corrupt Council dissolving CPAC this past spring, effective three weeks from today on August 31. Now isn't that decision biting them in the butt currently. Go ahead Council and support Chemtura and their partner in pollution the M.O.E.. That really is making you look to be in bed with the corporate polluter and his friends. Meanwhile Mark and Sandy continue to lie to anyone who will listen regarding both Chemtura's leakage of contaminants and Council's replacement of CPAC with lapdogs (RAC/TAG) versus a watchdog as CPAC was for the last four and a half years.

In regards to the Ontario Ombudsman and closed meeting (in camera) sessions, once again our Mayor aptly demonstrates her "leadership" skills. Instead of acknowledging Council's and her failures she chooses to deflect blame onto "citizens". Rather bizarely if not showing signs of paranoia she states that "a group of citizens are trying to bring Council down." She further adds that "they're looking at little things and making them into bigger things than they really need to be". Really? The Ombudsman repeatedly uses the word "illegal". I guess for this Mayor and Council after half of them repeatedly broke the Elections Act what is a little illegality regarding the Municipal Act as well?

These illegal meetings and discussions were for improper and devious purposes as well as contravening the letter and spirit of the law. CPAC were smeared and defamed in these in camera sessions and as well the Mayor admits to discussing "errors" of other Woolwich citizens and volunteers working with rural recreation associations. She is not being forthright then and she is not being forthright now.

  1. ILLEGAL is the key word in this whole fiasco and this finding of fact by the Ontario Ombudsman completely vindicates those of us who complained about the functioning of our Township. Now that it has been proven that ILLEGAL acts have been committed we must demand justice since we are the owners and the taxpayers of the Township we deserve the highest level of justice when someone commits an ILLEGAL act against us. Mr. Marshall is obviously correct that the local chemical company is liable/responsible/negligent for chemicals that have left their property. In my opinion the Township has absolutely no choice but to go after the chemical corporation and seek justice on behalf of its citizens, especially those where tests have proven that their chemicals have migrated to. I compliment Mr. Marshall and his associates for all their hard work on the chemical fiasco, but this is just one example. Now I am fully aware that there are a wide variety of citizens of Woolwich who can prove certain specific blatant conflicts of interest that have occurred over the past many years involving them personally in Woolwich...these blatant conflicts of interest are not exposed publicly simply because people were actually scared of public revenge/reprisal from those in power. Advocates like Mr. Marshall are very rare nowadays. Until I and others go public and head to head with the corrupt system, nothing will change I fear, it will be business as usual. The majority of people in our systems are controlled by evil motives and so of course we are in big trouble. Mr. Marshall is a very brave man...since he gave full disclosure (told everyone his motives and goals) however, the truth sets him free. The real question is what will the rest of the citizens do? No more excuses, it is time to make things right, go to work and do our best for ourselves AND our fellow citizens

  4. KW Record reports tonight that " Former Woolwich mayor Todd Cowan will go trial Nov. 23 on charges of fraud and breach of trust related to double-billing expenses." Four days of trial time has been booked and Cowan chose to go trial by judge rather than trial by a jury of his peers. His lawyer Mr. Brock said there was a potential resolution of the charges on the table but Mr. Cowan decided on going to trial by judge. It is said that Cowan made $101,000.00 in 2014 not counting the double billing see article at http://www.therecord.com/news-story/5792721-four-day-trial-set-in-cowan-case/

  5. Tonight's council meeting showed me what a bunch of morons I share Elmira with. Hopefully the TV camera's weren't running for Mr. Marshal's usual ignorant vindictive rant or the discussions around "inter-sex". What an absolute embarrassment.

    1. Hello, I must apologize to Alan for using his blog to comment to the above. I would like to introduce myself, my name is Viv Delaney.

The talk that I gave was on a very important movement as you will learn. On September 8th Woolwich Staff will be passing a Municipal Declaration in support of the Blue Dot Movement.

I would suggest that you take the time learn what "intersex" mean. This is available by Google. GRCA also writes about this.

Thank you for taking the time to come and listen. At least this is a starting point to further and future action for progress

      Caring about out healthy environment

  6. Perhaps the more level-headed taxpayers of Woolwich should organize a lawsuit against Mr. Marshall for tax dollars that he is costing us in legal challenges and court-cases, and how our council has to spend most of their time fending off his tantrums instead of running our township. Over a few hundred dollars he and his little sore-loser buddy are making us all look bad and grinding the functioning of our township to a halt.

    1. If you were there, Mr. Marshall asked council to drink the water. Looks like Sandy cost the taxpayers. Get with the program as I will ask for her bill through the ombudsman. Check out the ombudsman website where Sandy talks behind your back and all the volunteers! 300pages of illegal municipal act conversations.

  7. Yes! Also, I am experiencing a little deja vu after tonights antics. This is all reminiscent of about 5 years ago when Mr. Marshal convinced an incoming mayor to dissolve the sitting CPAC, and to hitch his wagon to this star. Then when said mayor realized what he had gotten into bed with and tried to undo it to some degree. Mr Marshall went on the attack again. I wonder how much time and money Mr Marshall's personal vendetta's have cost our town. Doesn't this all sound too familiar? Some "Advocate"!

    1. I didn't convince Todd Cowan of anything. He came to me looking for my assistance which I cheerfully offerred. Todd had been convinced by unbiased, uninvolved environmental professionals that the current CPAC, Chemtura and Conestoga Rovers were playing a game at the public's expense.

  8. well all my dear fellow citizens above, it is an established fact of war that the bombers will be getting hit with the most anti-aircraft fire when they are DIRECTLY OVER the target!

  9. I agree with almost all of the above. I was a moron for not having stood up against corrupted politicians as far back as 50 years ago already. I guess that makes me a level headed moron. Suing Mr. Marshall would be like squeezing blood from a rock...however when a corrupt politician gets squeezed all sorts of stuff pops out. Public servants above all, can be given 0% tolerance for mistakes, mismanagement or conflicts of interest and anyone condoning this is knowingly encouraging this evil disease called corruption. I will even go one step further, since I am an innocent taxpayer and not involved with any of the people in dispute, I have 0% tolerance for anyone who attempts to use someone like Mr. Marshall or ??? or ??? as an excuse for not operating this Township effectively efficiently and fairly!

  10. I would like to add. Scott Hahn did a lot of unprofessional yelling at a very nice lady while she was speaking. Can't wait for the Mecac meeting. Really, his babysiister gave him all that money for his campaign. I don't know of any teenager that would give a 26 year old with a house and family that kind of "cash" she spent the year earning.

I would like to say that I do not do not always support the method of Alan but this is Canada and according to the Canadian Charter of Right EVERYONE has the democratic right to speak or have an opinion.

The council and the Major are within their rights to have an opinion that may not be on the same opinion as we all would like.

The real issues are their are rules and regulations that have been created so that every Canadian knows what has been established to maintain the wonderful free country we are living in.

Discussions are a way of coming to solution that everyone can profit.

Alan's opinions are Alan's. For all the people that are judging all the others that you have never taken the time to hear or know perhaps you should. Do not judge someone or a group through the eyes of another person. You may sadly be missing out.
Question: when you make these broad statements without talking with the others are you not behaving in the same manner as Alan. Stop and ponder about this, please.

Warm regards to all because we have to be grateful that we are able to have these discussions without censorship.
