THE MAYOR'S STOCK IS IN FREEFALL AND HER CREDIBILITY IS CIRCLING THE DRAIN

The much vaunted lawyer James Bennett of Madorin Snyder got his ass kicked today and he knows it. Both Sandy and her hubby looked like they'd been kicked in his gonads. Judge Broad (honest that's his name) was fair in getting me to change from fact/evidence argument into straight argument on the facts & evidence already entered. This was three hours in the making in order for Bennett and Mr. Kidd of the Township to speak before we even debated my intervenor status as a friend of the court. Legal case law may have been made by my submissions and the Judge's rulings giving me status. I don't believe for one second he knew if given status I could destroy the Mayor's credibility so quickly and thoroughly. The March 23/15 smoking gun of her having prior knowledge of the errors, inaccuracies and omissions in her February 2/15 Financial Statement was devastating. Despite this the Judge gave her the Mayor's job back counter to case law on that. I expect his argument will go that there was more harm being done with her out of office than caused by her bad faith, dishonest errors and intentional non compliance with the Elections Act.

My stock rose dramatically with every honest person in the room and Sandy's is in the toilet. By the way, the "glare" got put in his place when it was all over.

  1. That is excellent news. It was absolutely imperative that your voice be heard and the evidence and facts put into the public record, just in case any of our local politicians do not get the message. Your take on Justice Broad's reasoning on the reinstatement is spot-on. I hope that this experience will teach everyone a lesson on the importance and the power of the truth. Mr. AND Mrs. Shantz know better than anyone else in the room how important the truth is AND that wolves in sheep's clothing will definitely not be tolerated due to what's at stake in our community. In fact if they are true Modern Mennonites they will also know that it is time for everything in our community to be done openly and truthfully and for the betterment of the whole community. Every conscious decision one makes is either good or evil. We in Woolwich and especially in Elmira and St. Jacobs do NOT need leaders. We need good intelligent public servants and I and many others with personal knowledge know that both Ms. Shantz and Mr. Bauman have it in them to provide excellent results for Woolwich but they have to stop being politicians and begin serving; the purpose for which they were created...and the people that really matter, ALL the citizens of Woolwich. Thank YOU Mr. Marshall for sticking to the TRUTH and for sticking them with it! Your energy is refreshing and inspiring. I cannot wait to see the results of a community that operates on that basis. Can you imagine if even 9% of our community "woke up" and decided to be actively involved in re-creating a true community?

  2. Ahh, more unjust priviledge doled out for a different kind of "the 1%"! What a joke; she didn't follow the rules, but oh well, that's okay, no consequences, bang the gavel.
For some reason, the court of public opinion usually sides with the mayor (unless it's, say, a Rob Ford outlier) yet if a lowly citizen were to do the same thing, swift recourse would follow. Try submitting your application for candidacy in an election, to the clerk's office at a fraction of a second beyond the prescribed deadline -- then it's too bad, "our hands are tied" zero tolerance, you lose! Pay your property taxes a day late and there are penalties -- you can't weasel your way out of 'em! Yet, apparently once you're elected, who cares if you're sloppy with paperwork. Damn the peasants, uhh, I mean, residents, who pushback against the hypocrisy! I absolutely cannot stand the arrogant "how dare anyone question our inpeccable expertise" attitude that most officials carry with them.

Personally, I'm not from Elmira, but it's a shame that 'Emperor' Ken Seiling lives there, as he probably has some bad influence. That guy can't resist showing his condescending smirk or outright laughing every single time a reporter puts a mic in his face, as if every topic is funny. Watch closely during a typical regional council meeting -- he's so comfy that he rushes through calling for votes as if every staff report presented is just for rubberstamping without any possible dissent. Equally disturbing is that "Carly" Zehr isn't truly retired, and continuing to interfere with local politics.

I've never understood why so few people pay attention to (and vote in) municipal politics, because of all three levels of government, it most directly affects your daily life. With my own well-meaning meddling, I've managed to piss off one local bureaucrat enough that the individual broke protocol and purposely phoned me (without being provided that information) just to voice disgust that I had escalated a complaint to a politician, essentially earning that person a slap on the wrist for not taking me seriously in the firstplace. I've also found evidence that municipal staff can be incredibly two-faced when I stumbled upon some internal correspondence that was solely used to disrespect me personally, rather than decide what's the best approach on how to interact with an inquisitive member of the public. And then one day, I discovered how at the city hall level (again, not in Elmira, but likely widespread) anything approved by council such as bylaws, can be, and often are, modified for technicalities AFTER council adoption behind closed doors -- truly shocking, as if "all in favour?" is more of a motion of political theatre than a binding vote.

    Sigh... circus clowns!!
